California’s Raw Edge

We finally made our way to explore the California desert. As we moved through, the landscape kept shifting, dry terrain, sharp rock formations, and silent stretches of vegetation that seemed to defy the heat. We met locals who had spent their lives working the ground in this arid region. Their stories shaped by decades of living with the land rather than trying to tame it. The heat was already intense in March, blurring the horizon, and we hiked toward an oasis in nearly forty degrees, unsure if we would make it back. Our reward, the desert bloom, carpets of color stretching across the land like a muted rainbow. The desert was not gentle, but raw and beautiful. Shot on film.
